Karen Stockdale of the Media Innovation Awards said, “There is hot competition to win one of the coveted Media Innovation Awards and all the winners can be very proud of their achievement as only the finest work has been selected to showcase the wealth of creative talent in the region.”
Company of Designers, a co-production with Routeways in association with Plymouth College of Art and Sunridge and funded by Plymouth City Council won the DVD/CD category with Someone who Listens, which ‘skilfully combined a variety of media resulting in a well produced, inclusive and engaging DVD’.

The Independent film/video award went to Sundog Media for Sea Front which was ‘a very atmospheric and nostalgic production that was beautifully produced’.
The nominations for the Photographic category impressed the judges so much that they decided to give an extra award for Photographic use. The Photographic award went to Joakim Boren for British Design 2010 commissioned by Taxi Studio for BIS Publishers - ‘an excellent series of images that captured a vision of an England untouched by the homogenisation of “starbucks” culture’. In recognition of the way photographs have been used to challenge perceptions and change relationships the judges awarded a Photographic Use award to Routeways Centre produced by Routeways Equal Voices, Stonehouse Youth Project, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary - Plymouth Youth Team, and Plymouth Children and Young People's Trust for ‘an innovative and interesting project giving young people a voice and an interest in photography’.
